Roof Types: Sloped (Main) + Flat (ADU)
Installation Time: 2 working days
Utility: Southern California Edison (SCE)
What We Did
The homeowner needed both the Main House and ADU covered—two roofs, different angles, one smart solution.
We installed 14 panels on the main roof (south‑facing slope) and 9 panels on the ADU (flat roof with tilt brackets)—all powered by a shared 10 kW hybrid inverter with independent MPPT tracking. Each roof operates at peak efficiency without interfering with the other.
The system is configured for self‑consumption first, storing energy for evening use and minimizing SCE peak‑hour draw.
Results
Installed & commissioned in 2 days
All electrical safety and grid tests passed
Main House + ADU monitoring live in one app
System fully operational—ready for SCE net metering
What the Homeowner Says
"SafePower handled both roofs—different structures, no problem. Two days, zero hassle, and I can monitor everything from my phone. Exactly what I wanted."
FAQs
Q: Does the ADU system interfere with the Main House?
A: No. Dual MPPT trackers let each array run independently.
Q: Need separate permits for ADU solar in CA?
A: If under the same utility meter, one permit covers both. This project used a unified permit.
Q: What’s the estimated annual output for this system?
A: ~14,500–15,500 kWh/year—enough to cover most of the home's usage.
