20kWh Home Battery & 11.5kW Inverter in Arcadia, California
Sep 16, 2026
This Arcadia homeowner wanted to make better use of their solar energy and reduce their reliance on electricity from the grid.
With a significant portion of the home's electricity use taking place in the evening, they were looking for a battery system with enough capacity to store daytime solar energy for later use, while also providing backup power during grid outages.
The homeowner also wanted a clean and practical installation that would fit comfortably within the available space around the home.
The solution
We installed a home battery system with an 11.5kW inverter and 20kWh of battery storage, designed around the home's energy usage and backup requirements.
The system stores excess solar energy during the day and makes it available when the home needs it most, helping the homeowner use more of their own solar power instead of relying on the grid.
Why 11.5kW and 20kWh?
Battery capacity and inverter power serve different purposes.
The 20kWh battery provides enough storage to keep a substantial amount of solar energy available for evening and overnight use.
The 11.5kW inverter provides the power output needed to support multiple household loads while maintaining a practical balance between system capacity and the home's electricity demand.
For this project, the goal was to choose a system that matched the home's actual energy needs rather than simply installing the largest battery available.
More solar energy when you need it
Instead of sending excess solar energy back to the grid during the day, the battery can store that energy for later use.
This allows the homeowner to make better use of their own solar power after sunset and reduce their dependence on grid electricity.
Backup power when the grid goes down
Backup power was also an important part of the project.
With the appropriate backup configuration, the battery system can provide power to selected household loads during a grid outage, helping keep essential appliances and everyday home functions running.
This gives the homeowner an added layer of energy security while also helping them get more value from their solar system.
A practical energy solution for an Arcadia home
The homeowner's priorities came down to three things: better use of solar energy, reliable backup power and greater control over household electricity use.
We designed the system around these needs, taking into account the home's energy consumption, available installation space and backup requirements.
20kWh battery. 11.5kW inverter. More usable solar energy, greater control and dependable backup for the home.
